How it works
Edit a video online in five simple steps
It looks like a normal online editor. The difference is invisible: there is no server on the other end.
- 1
Drop in your footage
The file opens instantly. There is no upload bar because there is no upload. Everything that follows happens on your machine.
- 2
Cut it to shape
Trim the ends, split at the playhead, cut a section out of the middle. These are stream copies. Done in seconds, no quality loss.
- 3
Reframe for the platform
9:16 for Reels and Shorts, 1:1 or 4:5 for feeds. With a crop you position yourself instead of a guess.
- 4
Stack the layers
A second clip, a logo, music that ducks the original audio automatically, text in real fonts. Each with its own timing on the timeline.
- 5
Export an MP4
Rendered by ffmpeg inside the tab. Trims come back in seconds; re-encodes run at roughly real time, and the progress bar tells the truth.

Cut it here. Publish it everywhere.
The clip you just exported still has to go out. Social Magnum schedules and publishes to all 20+ networks, TikTok, Reels and Shorts included, from one composer, with captions tailored per platform. The editing stays free either way.
Three tips nobody told you
The toolkit
Eight things it does without a server
Every one of these runs on your own machine. Which is why there is no queue, no account wall, and no copy of your footage anywhere else.
- 1
Trim and split
Stream copies of the original data. Seconds to finish at any length, and the quality cannot degrade because nothing is re-encoded.
- 2
Cut the middle out
Remove the cough, the pause or the flubbed take from the middle of a clip; the two ends join cleanly.
- 3
Reframe
9:16, 1:1 or 4:5 with a crop you drag into position. The subject stays in frame because you put it there.
- 4
Video layers
A second clip composited on top, picture-in-picture, reaction box or B-roll, trimmed and timed independently.
- 5
Image layers
Logos, end cards and stickers, held on screen for exactly as long as you want them.
- 6
Sound
Music or voiceover on its own track, with the original audio ducked underneath automatically.
- 7
Text and captions
Real fonts with colours, outlines and backgrounds, positioned anywhere in the frame, timed to the second.
- 8
Local MP4 export
The encoder ships with the page and runs in the tab. The finished file is written on your machine, because it never left it.
Built for the clips you actually post
Same editor whatever the footage. It opens fast, cuts faster, and keeps everything local.
Short-form creators
Reframe a landscape take into 9:16, caption it, export. The Reels and Shorts pipeline without installing anything.
Social managers
Cut the usable twenty seconds out of a three-minute recording and have it ready for every network.
Podcasters & streamers
Clip the highlight, duck the music under the voice automatically, stamp the logo on top.
Anyone with private footage
Client work, internal comms, unreleased launches. Edited without a copy ever landing on someone else's server.

The encoder ships with the page
Every other free online video editor uploads your footage, encodes it on their servers and hands you a queue. This one ships a WebAssembly build of ffmpeg and runs it on your own CPU. No upload wait, no file-size ceiling beyond your own memory, and once the page has loaded, no network at all. Unreleased footage stays unreleased.
FAQ about editing video in the browser
Is my video uploaded anywhere?
No. And this is the unusual part. The entire encoder runs inside your browser, so your footage never leaves your computer. Most free online video editors upload your file, process it on their servers and hand you a link; this one does the work on your own CPU.
Do I need ffmpeg installed?
No. A WebAssembly build of ffmpeg is shipped with the page and runs in the tab. There is nothing to install and nothing to configure.
Why did my export finish in seconds?
Because you only trimmed. Trimming, splitting and joining are stream copies. The existing video data is copied through without touching a pixel, so they finish in seconds at any length, with zero quality loss. Only edits that change the picture have to re-encode.
How long does a render take?
Stream copies are near-instant. Anything that changes the picture, cropping, reframing to 9:16, layers, text, has to re-encode, and that runs at roughly real-time-and-a-bit on a modern laptop. A very long clip on an older machine will take a while; the progress bar is honest about it.
What can I do with it?
Trim and split, cut a section out of the middle, reframe to 9:16, 1:1 or 4:5 with a crop you control, and stack layers, extra video, images, sound and text, on top, each with its own timing. Export straight to MP4.
Is there a watermark or a length limit?
Neither. No watermark, no signup wall in front of the download, and no arbitrary duration cap. The practical limits are your machine's memory and your patience on long re-encodes, since the work runs on your own CPU.
Does it keep working offline?
Once the page has loaded, yes. The encoder is already in the tab, your file is already on your machine, and nothing in the pipeline needs a server. You can pull the plug mid-edit and still export.
Why is there no AI?
Because it does not need any. Trimming a clip and putting text on it are solved problems that should be instant and free. Adding a model would make the tool slower, more expensive and less private for no gain.
