7 Best Later Alternatives in 2026 (No Post Caps)
Later is still the best Instagram grid planner, and its post caps, social-set pricing and metered AI are why people leave. Seven alternatives priced from the vendors' own pages.

Later grew up as the Instagram planner, and it is still lovely at exactly that: the visual grid, the feed preview, the link in bio. The friction starts when Instagram is not your whole job. Later’s pricing counts in “social sets” (one brand’s profiles bundled together), its Starter tier caps you at 30 posts per profile a month, and there is no free plan on the pricing page, just a 14-day trial.
Why people leave Later
- Post caps. Starter allows 30 posts per profile a month and Growth 180; a daily poster with Stories and Reels hits those numbers fast. Unlimited only arrives on Scale.
- The social-set model. One set is one brand’s bundle of profiles. Managing several brands means buying sets at $11.25 a month each on top of the plan.
- Promotional maths. The prices on the page ($18.75, $37.50, $82.50 a month) are yearly promotional rates with 25% off; the everyday cost is higher, and AI credits are metered at 5 to 100 a month by tier.
- No free plan. The pricing page offers a 14-day trial and nothing free after it.

1 · Social Magnum, unlimited posts at a flat price (ours)
The two Later complaints this tool answers directly: no post caps anywhere, and no set-counting. $24 a month covers 10 social accounts across Facebook, Instagram, Threads, TikTok, YouTube, Pinterest, Bluesky and Mastodon with unlimited posts, AI captions and images included, approvals, a unified inbox with auto-replies, CSV and RSS scheduling. $59 covers 30 accounts, $119 covers 70; yearly billing is $19, $47 and $95. The free plan (2 accounts, 15 posts a month) stays free, and paid plans carry a 14-day money-back guarantee.
It also connects to AI agents over an MCP server with 26 documented tools, which none of the tools on this list offers.
Skip it if: you need X, LinkedIn or Google Business publishing, or Later’s visual Instagram grid planning is the one feature you actually live in.
2 · Buffer, the simple queue
Buffer is the answer when Later feels like more product than you need: a clean queue, free for 3 channels with 10 queued posts each, then $5 per channel per month billed yearly. Its channel list is wide, including X, LinkedIn and Google Business Profile.
Skip it if: you run more than a handful of accounts; the per-channel maths grows faster than any of the flat tools here. The full walk-through is in our Buffer alternatives guide.
3 · Metricool, the analytics upgrade
Metricool gives you what Later’s analytics tab hints at: real cross-network reporting, competitor tracking and ad data, with a planner attached. The free plan covers 1 brand and 20 posts a month; Starter runs $20 to $36 depending on brands. Its own page notes X needs a paid add-on and unlimited scheduling sits under a fair-use policy.
Skip it if: you want inbox workflows; reporting is its centre.
4 · Publer, cheapest per account
Publer runs from $5 per account a month ($4 yearly) with a free plan for 3 accounts, recycling, RSS and a generous feature list. Every tenth account is free. X connections are paid-only and the free tier keeps just 10 scheduled posts per account.
Skip it if: your account count makes per-account pricing the problem again.
5 · SocialBee, the recycling engine
SocialBee organises content into categories that refill your queue on a schedule — the strongest evergreen workflow in this list. Bootstrap is $29 a month ($24.20 yearly) for 5 profiles; a 14-day trial and a 30-day money-back guarantee, but no free plan.
Skip it if: your content is timely rather than evergreen.
6 · SocialPilot, the budget agency pick
SocialPilot starts at $20 a month ($17 yearly) for 5 accounts and scales to $200 for 40 with unlimited users and white-label reports at the Premium tier. Dependable, unflashy, resellable.
Skip it if: you need a free plan or Later-style visual planning.
7 · Zoho Social, the ecosystem bargain
Zoho Social is $10 a month billed annually (Professional $30, Premium $40) with a limited free plan, and clicks straight into Zoho CRM and Desk.
Skip it if: you are not already a Zoho shop.
